Our people are our greatest resource. Together they provide an appreciable difference in customer relations by sharing knowledge and expertise, fully understanding the challenges the customers meet on a daily basis and providing products and services our customers have grown to depend on over the last several decades.
We pride ourselves on the continuity we are able to offer our customers – a direct result of the loyalty and commitment of our team members. Our management team boasts some 150 years of combined service to Northern Metalic. We are equally proud to acknowledge that the majority of our staff has been with us in excess of 15 years. From the beginning, we have remained successful by surrounding ourselves with highly engaged and competent individuals familiar with the unique demands of the geographical areas where they work and live.

Our customers range from multi-nationals to the local farmer. Northern Metalic’s industry base is equally as broad, serving the transportation, construction, forestry, mining, oil and gas, institutional and agricultural sectors.
The scope of work we provide through our group of companies and affiliates spans the western provinces and territories. These regions are actively involved in the development of natural resources, which fuels the need for the industrial supplies and services we are equipped to provide.

Baron Oilfield Supply is among a handful of privately held, independent oilfield supply stores in North America. Baron began as a start-up, incubated within Northern Metalic. The company presently has 18 operating locations dedicated to providing specialized supplies as well as industrial hardware to the oil and gas sector. Pumpjack sales and service, valves, fittings, pipe, tubing, flanges – pipeline, production and industrial. In recent years much of our time and resources have been directed towards responding to a need to move goods into and out of the region by rail. In 1997 the Side Group was approached by CN Rail to service the forestry industry originally moving their OSB product to markets. Since that time, our Rail client list has grown and diversified as have our operations – from our flagship – GP Reload to six separate multi-user facilities moving a multitude of products from rock and sand, grains and fertilizers, to methanol, glycols, wind turbines and pipe. Since 1996, Devco Developments has been operating in Grande Prairie as the definitive development firm.
